Vancouver is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world and is on the list of best cities to live in the world, yet we currently face issues of social isolation and disconnection between generations of people. In response to these issues, the placemaking project brought together people of different age groups, cultural backgrounds and histories, in order to create a space that not only encourages dialogue about sustainability, but the sharing of our own individual stories and talents with the community. Placemaking is about transforming untapped spaces such as front yards and boulevards, which are mostly composed of simple, boring lawn, into spaces of art and creativity. Shown below are examples of what a space could potentially look like after being transformed through placemaking.
