VACS Arts Residency is a digitally-based, literacy-focused grassroots program fostering a diverse and inclusive arts community. We promote cross-cultural resilience through an intersectional approach, informed by contemporary practices and co-creation movements.

The residency is open to national and international (with a Canadian Permanent Resident card) creatives of all experience levels working in fields like writing, filmmaking, digital art/design, sound/audio art, and creative producing. We seek residents passionate about building a more equitable arts landscape and eager to contribute to a dynamic digital community.
Our residency is a self-paced and flexible program, structured around workshops, community gatherings, collaborative projects, and digital exhibitions that can be engaged synchronously or asynchronously. Our program is designed for a 3-month long workshop cycle for each incoming cohort, and residents can continue with the larger community beyond the initial year, if desired; residents also have the flexibility to take a hiatus, if needed.

Our developing residency program offers many forms of engagement, including:
Virtual Exhibitions + Event Series
Art Dialogues
Open Studio Hours
Collaborative Projects
Salons/Workshops focused on co-creation
