For our 8th update the Placemaking team heads on over to Colleen’s place for a special event. It was held on Sunday August the 30th, and the event consisted of a crash course tutorial on wire sculpting.
On Saturday the 8th of August a group of us; friends and family of Keiko gathered together at her place to help furnish the boulevard space. Unlike other Placemaking sessions, this would be the first time we would be using bits and pieces of mosaic tiles.
Work commenced on Robin’s garden. Stylistically, Robin’s garden would incorporate rocks arrangements that would result an image of either a frog or turtle, as these animals have a special significance to its owner.
Our Placemaking team meetup this week went differently from our other meet ups as began working on Oliver’s Garden. Although the work on Oliver’s Garden is not fully complete at the moment due to the time constraint, significant progress has been made as most of the materials are in place and all we need to do now is add the finishing touches to the garden.
For our latest meet-up on the 31st of May, the Placemaking Team headed to Dunbar area for the Dunbar in Bloom Garden Tour, which is held in May twice a year. The Dunbar garden tour came up in our agenda quite spontaneously as we heard about it midway through the week from Gabriel.
Last Saturday on 9th of May, the Place Making team met up for the first time with the task of surveying potential properties around various locations in Vancouver. Through these available locations, the Placemaking team aims to provide aesthetically appealing spaces for members of the community to congregate through the means of permaculture.
